Although I'm fairly confident it's not something based on fact, this is the current driver listing for the "2009 Sprint Cup" on ESPN.com.
And yes, if you go there and click through it takes you to a page with a picture of Young Marco. Good grief, do they not have a competent webmaster anymore?
Pretty sure I just had a stroke.
ReplyDeleteJohn Andretti, maybe?
ReplyDeleteIncompetence and ESPN.COM's NASCAR coverage are more inseparable than Danica and not having a thing to wear.
ReplyDeleteIt's not even the right birth date for Marco.
ReplyDeleteGod only knows where they got Marco's name, but that is last years list. Notice it shows 'Dinger in the 84 for Red Bull and even lists Dario Franchitti in the 40 for Chip Ganassi Racing. I'm sure it must really be "John" Andretti, but talk about an embarassing mistake - Go Nascar and ESPN!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a cut & paste time killer. Interns aren't paid to know the difference. The supervisor doesn't seem to care.
ReplyDeleteBill davis is out as is CAT, Blaney, AT&T. OTC hasn't run in two years and Marco is the only andretti of note this week.
ESPN is too big to care.
That entire page is a crapsicle, for the record John Andretti has signed to drive the #34 car in the Daytona 500 for Earnhardt Ganassi Racing.
ReplyDeleteScott Riggs is in the 36, its a Toyota, and the team is called Tommy Baldwin Racing. They would be so lucky to have Marco in that car.

Steve K
Well, what does anyone expect from NASCAR?
ReplyDeleteI'm not gonna go chase it down right now, but if I'm not mistaken (which I frequently am) I think the name they wanted to list is Marcos Ambrose (an Aussie!) with that team, which is a co-op deal with (woohoo) Michael Waltrip Racing. IF I'm not mistaken.
ReplyDeleteThen again...a little closer look would have revealed that they have Ambrose' name immediately above Marco's. But they do have the wrong team and mfg for Ambrose, and Bill Davis Racing has closed it's doors from what I've heard. Plus Davis was running Toyotas too, (last year anyway).
ReplyDeleteI find it funny that they have Marco there (? what stoner is in charge of the webpage ?), amusing that Stanton is still listed there, and depressing that Allmendinger is still there.
ReplyDeleteAs for Bill Davis, I had heard had been bough out and was now a part of Penske's stock car operation.
"Bill davis is out as is CAT..." That's incorrect.
ReplyDelete(1) Davis lost CAT in '08 & recently sold something to Penske. Hornish's #77 has Top 35 guarantee again(He had finished '08 38th & left having to qualify for the 1st five '09 races)
(2) CAT has replaced AT&T at RCR. Jeff Burton will fly the CAT colors this year (despite their recent layoffs)
Just checked the ESPN site - they have fixed the list now and it no longer lists Marco - apparently it was John's slot they had him in. The other information has also been updated, except for still listing Dario Franchitti in the #40 at Ganassi - guess they can't fix it all at once. Might scare them!
ReplyDeleteNASCAR can have Milka.
ReplyDeleteThey've taken Marco off the list. Unfortunately, they also took Stanton Barrett off the list.
ReplyDeleteLike someone said....they can have Milka.
