National ratings more than double
The national rating for the ESPN2 broadcast of the Road Runner Turbo Indy 300 from Kansas Speedway on April 27 was up 164 percent from the 2007 race (similar date and time slot, and same cable outlet).
WOW! If this were any other sport Danica's agent would be on the phone seeking a contract renegotiation.
l love that it's assumed the bump is due to danicamania and not the fact that the series have merged, and that there are, contrary to popular belief, some of us out there that didn't watch IndyCar last year, but are now watching this year because "our guys" are in the races. That COULD be an attribute to the bump in ratings... but let's go with the dumbed down masses flocking to their tv sets to see Danica drive backwards through the field and become indignant when other drivers dare attempt to pass...

ReplyDeleteSo it went from .5 to .8? That's not what I read from an independent source, but I'd have to do some digging to find it. I'd read it went from .54 to .58, IIRC. Increases that may sound huge really aren't when the base figure is next to nothing. Either way, it's nothing to cheer about. The ICS has a long, long road to go.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the IBJ, it went from 0.28 to 0.74, and from .6 at the beginning to .98 at the end, which is also big since Danica was out at the race at the end.
