CONCORD, N.C. (October 9, 2007)-On the heels of Dario Franchitti’s successful stock car debut in the ARCA race at Talladega Superspeedway last weekend, Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates (CGRFS) announced today the reigning Indianapolis 500 and IndyCar Series Champion will continue his development program in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Franchitti will qualify the No.41 Target Dodge Ram next Saturday at Martinsville Speedway.

The Cunningham Motorsports-owned truck will be led by Ganassi Crew Chief Brian Pattie and his CGRFS team, who guided Franchitti through his ARCA debut last weekend. (MORE from Chip Ganassi Racing)
Nothing like making your first truck ride at the half-mile thumpfest at Martinsville. Maybe there are bumper cars at the Dave & Buster's in Concord to help prepare him.

Great. This means I have to sit through the pain of listening to Waltrip announce the race. No fair!

    *headdesk*

Maybe I'll get lucky and he'll have laryngitis or something.

    It just keeps getting sadder.

    Jeff, 'Dawg, and others,

If the stories are true that The Magnificent Ashley helped change her husband's career path to NA$CAR because she was worried her "poor widdle Dawio" would "hurt himself weel bad" in the IRL, has she ever seen the slamming and banging that occurs in a Truck or Cup race?

Hey Starchild, why don't you ask Clint Bowyer what it was like crossing the finish line in this year's Daytona 500 upside down, on fire! Ever seen "The Big One" at Talladega or Daytona Ms. Moonbeam? Chances are your "poor widdle Dawio" will be in the middle of at least one next year in his "Tank of Tomorrow". Maybe Dario and Whine Pablum can discuss exit strategies from a flaming stock car when Ryan Newman punts you into the wall.

    Jeff,
BTW, thanks for posting that quote from the ARCA official down the board. Being in Talladega I'm SURE the whole quote was "Do you speak English, boy?"

A pox on Ganasty and Turncoatti. I hope he gets spun to the apron or shoved into the wall early on. Welcome to NASCAR Dario!

That was one hell of a hell of a rant there. I love it. Extra points for Starchild.

Mmack needs his own blog :)

I'd rather leave the heavy lifting of blogging to Jeff, Johnny, Jennifer, Pressdog etc and just drop in for a comment or two every now or then.

Besides, I'd probably get sued for libel. Or be mistaken for Robin Miller (the "journalist", and not the cook on the Food Network), and I don't want THAT to happen.

P.S. Johnny, you are free to refer to Ashley as "Starchild" on your blog in exchange for "High Fashion Scott". You KNOW if Speed ever ends up in the IRL, Jeff now has his photo caption for the Main Page.

    It's a deal. Good trade.
