Hostage no more! As the Watkins Glen road course approaches on the schedule we find Jay Howard has finally been given back the helm of the Roth Racing #24. At least for this week.
Roth Racing is pleased to announce that rookie Jay Howard will be back behind the wheel as the driver of the #24 car for the IndyCar Series race this coming weekend at Watkins Glen.While race fans have been lamenting the lack of, uh, performance from Marty Roth (he's finished one race all year and has yet to finish higher than 17th), the tandem of Howard and John Andretti has been doing a respectable job for the new team. Casting aside Howard's wreck at Homestead and Andretti's at Richmond, the duo have consistently finished between 11th and 19th in the other 7 races. That's not exaclty setting the world on fire, but it's highly respectable in a year where there are at least 26 cars in every race.
"I am over the moon to be back in the #24 Roth Racing car for Watkins Glen. It's been agonizing not being behind the wheel these past 5 races but now it's my turn again and I hope to be able to pick up where I left off. I had good runs in my last 3 races and St. Pete was going to be a high water mark for the team until I had late contact with Dan Wheldon. I am as hungry as ever and hope to build on that performance in St. Pete and give the team it's first ever top 10 finish."

Hey when you have a written contract, all money paid up front, we talking thousands of dollars, and at the end of the day we expect Jay to be "PROFESSIONAL", This is a long story and we gave Jay enough chance to come clean. He was paid upfront to assist with three karters at the end of the day we were to reimburse him for all the spares oil and lube we used, This came up to less than $500.00. Jay was to ship the engines back to Jamaica, but instead he sent a bill for $10,000.00, "not kidding" almost the cost of the engines. The team lives in Jamaica Jay is in possession of the engines made his demand. JAY THIS IS EXTORTION!!!!!!
and in this country it's a criminal offense, You left these Guys with no other option. The kid did well at Homestead.

The Story of Jay Howard and N.G. Racing Team at Rotax National Run-Off’s [2007] in Denver Colorado
In an island named Jamaica, in the Caribbean Sea, an exceptional human being, whose family has over three, [3], generations devoted some forty, [40], years to Motor Sports of all types in various countries, spotted a young driver being introduced to Go-Karting. The driver was just seven, [7], years old. The exceptional human being was Peter A. Moodie Snr. That driver was Collin Daley Jnr., who won The Rotax Mini-Max Class Qualifications of The Jamaica Karting Association for the U.S.A. National “Run-offs.” These were to be held in Denver, Colorado, U.S.A.
Mr. Peter Moodie Snr. carefully planned what was to be Collin Daley Jnr.’s introduction to the big World of International Motor Racing. He recognised the altitude challenge of Denver and began researching a team familiar with the conditions there with whom he could work as Facilitator to N.G. Racing Team. There were two, [2], other Go-Kart Drivers who had also won their respective Class Qualifications for the “Run-off’s” [2007]. So the Facilitator sought would be addressing a team of three, [3], drivers.
A search for such a Facilitator was done on the Internet. There, Mr. Moodie saw Jay Howard. An associate at the Homestead Speedway, Florida City, Florida, U.S.A. knew of Jay Howard. The single most important requirement was that such a Facilitator would run the Gillard Chassis to which Collin Daley Jnr. was most familiar.
After much telephone discussions E-mailings with responses Jay Howard was selected. It was a “Father-Son Facilitator” team and both father and son were British Nationals.Mr. Moodie first became somewhat apprehensive of his decision to hire Jay Howard, when several weeks went by without any responses, [from The Facilitator Team.]. Later, the explanation offered was that: “Dad, was forced to return to the U.K., for a bit”. Later, the response levels improved quieting Mr. Moodie’s apprehension.
The expected agreement was then written and signed off. Of particular import was; “that a Kart be provided for a ten [10] year old driver---the name Kadet, was even quoted/stated.” Engines owned by N.G. Racing Team were to be sent from Jamaica.
Peculiarly, sometime during the negotiations and especially before departure from Jamaica, an email was received by Mr. Moodie stating that: “Payment MUST be made, IN FULL, prior to any representation in Denver.” “That’s just how it is!”, was the ‘rider.’
Though totally unacceptable, though totally unprofessional, though totally unethical, there was no time to negotiate. A delay would have meant cancellation for young Collin Daley Jnr., Martin Anderson and Peter A. Moodie Jnr.
Upon the arrival of the N.G. Racing Team in Denver, Colorado, in mid August [2007], the real Jay Howard and Father Facilitator Team was seen!
There was NO Kadet Kart For Collin Daley Jnr!, despite several E-mails giving his height, weight, and age. One had therefore to be rented at an additional cost.
Then came the “Twin Tower Blow”! At the end of The Run-off’s Meet, having Paid In Full Prior to departure from Jamaica, Mr. Moodie approached Jay Howard to ask if there were any “incidental charges”, outstanding. “We will let you know, but we do not envisage much” was Jay’s reply. The “catch” comes next. Mr. Jay Howard, due to airline regulations, was held responsible for shipping to Jamaica, the four,[4],engines used by N.G. Racing Team and several other critical bits of equipment, these the property of Peter A. Moodie Snr./N.G. Racing Team.
A few days after returning to Jamaica, Mr. Moodie received an Invoice for “incidentals” which computed to exactly 58.3% of the contract In Full. Itemised were hotdogs eaten and the toilet tissue soiled. This meant that the final invoice would represent 158% of the quotation [which had already been paid IN FULL].
Clearly there was “intent”. Clearly there was “malice affore thought”, since Jay Howard knew that had he advised of the 58.3% overrun while Mr. Moodie and team were still in Denver, there was no way he, [Moodie] would have left the engines and equipment with him, [Howard].
The real victim in all of this was little Collin Daley Jnr. Here was he, all of ten, [10], years old, facing his First International Meet without the only chassis he knew---- Gillard. We all who race know the value of equipment to which one has become accustomed. We also all know the value of “seat time” on a new “unseen” track. So imagine the loss in “seat time” for Collin while a rented chassis was sought, collected and commissioned.
Mr. Moodie refused to pay and so Jay Howard kept the engines and equipment. Surely this is not the behaviour of a professional team rather more like “trickery” akin to a snake oil salesman or “hostage taking”. It is now ten, [10], months ago.

As a Jamaican,keen on sport and especially the development, encouragement and nurturing of young sport's persons I am appalled at what I read this afternoon. A "story" was posted by one F. Winston Browne. Why would Jay Howard have to do this to foreigners coming to USA to race Go Karts? I a U.S. citizen feel embarrassed!
Also, if he did not know how much he has restricted this young driver by holding his engine "hostage", why not now make good and have a Dispute Resolution Act?

Now, Jay Howard has a WebSite which it is presumed he uses for the promotion of his career as a Race Driver. Our plan is to tell the world how dishonest Jay Howard has been. He has developed a name in Go-Kart Circles of doing this repeatedly.
The plan calls for a DAILY complaint to be posted on his WebSite, [see one initiated by us from Shermaine Brown, (Munchie)], and so have him respond to the “electronic pressure” and settle FOR ‘C.J.’S’SAKE!

It can’t be my Jamaican youth this ‘big man’ handling so shabbily, Selassie? If this man Jay Howard is all for Motor Racing how could he be so towards a young Jamaican. Is it because he is not an American?
