"I don't think he's as good as what everyone rants and raves about him, and I just wanted to prove a point that he wasn't as good as everyone says he was." - Former Roth Racing detainee Jay Howard on SpeedFreaks, expounding upon his recent PRI Kart Classic victory over Scott Speed. Howard also bested the likes of Dan Wheldon, Bryan Herta, Vitor Meira, Ed Carpenter, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Townsend Bell, Alex Tagliani, Will Power and AJ Allmendinger, although he didn't feel the need to comment on any of their skills.

    Nice. :-)

It'd be cool if Howard ended up somewhere, after being paid to sit by Roth for a year. While it's always better to get paid while not racing than to do it for free, he's at a point in his career when sitting for a season is not a good thing. Even if he ends up running in Grand-Am with Darren Manning's shoes, it'd be a good step. In fact, a Grand-Am season, with an Indy 500 ride, might not be the worst option for him. Dane Cameron is running there.

Oh, and since I couldn't resist:

Hey Scott, next time you say a series isn't a challenge at all, make sure you don't get dusted by a guy who wasn't even a full-timer in that series. Now have fun driving a stock car. At least until Red Bull gets bored and sells the team.

I'd just like to tell that PUNK Jay Howard that I have a Truck Series win AND a full season ride, so go choke on that!

Wait, what's that Mr. Mateschitz? You want me to get off of the computer and come to your office right now? About my job next season?

Man, now I know how that AJ guy we had feels.

Never new one go-kart victory could carry such vindication/condemnation.

Pretty sad when you have to fall back on a go-kart win to "talk smack" about someone.

    Lame.

What next? He's a better dancer than Helio because he got a higher score on DDR?

Scott Speed shot his mouth off & someone knocked him down a peg... GOOD!

Speed won multiple karting titles & did indeed pi$$ on the ICS & its drivers. He could have had class & say he wanted to pursue a NASCAR career. However, we all know he had to get cute, spit some half-a$$ B.S. out of his mouth & crap on American OW racing.

Guess that's what being a Red Bull sponsored athlete in tails? Being all bad-a$$ & dropping controversial statements in every press interview?

I thought Speed got pimped by Toro Rosso, but perhaps Scott did contribute to his own demise in F1? Berger & Tost were first class jerks that feared Scott Speed was moving in on their territory?
