For all of you Boulder Sam fans who will be at Kentucky Speedway this weekend (or even if you will be watching elsewhere), the much-admired Pressdog has forwarded an item of interest.
Stacy Hornish, married to Sam's cousin, is selling a Sammy Shammy on eBay with some of the proceeds going to the Shriner's Hospital. She asked me to toss a link to her eBay sale up on my site, which I did at the end of the most recent posting. If y'all wanted to post the link below to her eBay buy it now, I'm sure she'd be super-psyched.
Consider it done, and note the 300 or so Sammy Shammys for sale at $9.99 plus shipping are "also good for soaking in water for keep cool at the track". Just be sure you don't smack your buddies in the head with a wet Sammy Shammy...unless they're being obnoxious.
While I was at eBay, I couldn't help perusing the IRL-related merchandise. Sure, there are shirts, hats, model cars and vaguely-resembling Danica! bobbleheads, but there is a treasure trove of other merchandise for Indy fans looking to unload some cash.
Danica Patrick Autographed Mini Helmet - I know she's small, but I don't think her head will fit in this thing. Starting bid of $199.95.
Penske Racing Museum Golf Tool - Show your IRL coolness at the corporate golf outings. Starting bid of $12.95.
Nomex Firesuit - Dress like the pros, literally. It appears this was from someone on the old Hemelgarn team with Buddy Lazier. Starting bid of $129.99
Indy Motor Speedway Lunch Box - School is back in session, and it's time to let Junior know he's WAY COOLER than those Superman-bag toting wannabes. Starting bid of $4.00.
USAC Official Shirt - You never know, but you might be able to talk your way past security with this spiffy shirt. Repeat after me: "I'm an official scorer". No guarantees, though. Starting bid of $40.00.
Autographed Helmet Shield - In case you can't afford a whole autographed helmet, you can chose from Four-time Indy 500 winner Al Unser Sr or Alex Barron. Both currently under $40, but inexplicably, Barron's has the higher bid.
Checkered Flag with 24 Signatures - This might be the coolest thing ever. A checkered flag with signatures such as Tony Stewart, 1985 Indy 500 winner Tom Sneva, Scott Sharp, Johnny Unser, Danny Ongais, 1960 Indy 500 winner the late Jim Rathman, World of Outlaw Sprint Car King Steve Kinser (who ran that year in his only Indy 500 appearance), 2 time Indy 500 winner Arie Luyendyk, 4 time Indy 500 winner Al Unser, and Johnny Parsons. I guess you really can find anything on eBay. Don't forget to check out the Sammy Shammys as the money goes to a good cause. Even Marco Andretti fans could use one, although I would suspect they might be treated less than lovingly after this year's Indy 500.
