Schmidt Happens

Three races into the Indy Pro season and Alex Lloyd has managed to win all three races for Sam Schmidt Motorsports. Good gracious!

In the first race at St Petersburg yesterday, Lloyd held off Hideki Mutoh and Jonathan Klein for the victory. Klein looked impressive with his runner-up performance yesterday, and was leading this morning before getting black flagged for blocking.

Race officials were being very quick with the black flags, so it should be interesting to see if they call the ICS race today just as strictly.

A late pass by Bobby Wilson in today's race dropped Mutoh to fourth, but that's the lowest finish for him in three races. Just for conversation we can note that Kosuke Matsuura has never finished higher than fourth, and that was at Kentucky three years ago.

Also for conversation note that last year's series champ Jay Howard - who of course is no longer employed by Sam Schmidt Motorsports - finished 5th yesterday but last today as a result of an accident on the first lap.

Current IPS standings have Lloyd with 155 points, Mutoh in second with 107, Wilson in third with 91.

Klein's blocking call was bull. *

*Unless the actual call wasn't what they showed us at the track.
