So who was at fault for "the Big One" in Iowa? Danica? Ed? Quattro?

Uncle Sam says blame Vitor. From ESPN.com:

"The 4 car [Meira] sped up and slowed down and jacked a bunch of people up," said the Team Penske driver. "You've got people who haven't won out here who are desperate, and it's unfortunate when they take out championship contenders."

UPDATE: MoneyCJ is wondering what's up with Uncle Sam. Read HERE.

I like Sam. A lot. Seriously. But that was a dick comment...

Pretty un-Sam-like comment. Kind a Busch. BAAA. Busch. Get it? No, He could bagged on Vitor a bit for his restart tactics without bringing the "haven't won yet" thing into it. That's normally below Sammy.

I don't remember precisely what he said during that post wreck interview with Bre, but it had a general feeling of "those not in the championship points hunt need to stay the hell out of my way". I don't like him as a driver, but he doesn't usually strike me as a dick...at least he didn't until this year. During the rain delay he was about the same in regards to the contact with Scheckter. In that instance Scheckter wasn't to blame, and calling him out on IMS radio was a dick thing to do.

    Yes, Mutt...agree completely.

You know there is starting to be a huge trend in the IRL, Danica + {Insert Driver in Title Contention Here} collide at {Location} Motor Speedway.

This story is getting old really fast, I'm getting sick of seeing it. Scheckter should lose his title of "The Wrecker" in favor of Patrick getting it.

Well, Tomas DID crumple a lot of metal before going to Vision Racing. Although since then he's been pretty easy on the hardware.

Others may merit a Wrecker-like monicker, but I doubt you could consider The Princess of the Pavement in that group. She's only had incidents with other drivers on the two short tracks this season. Heck, Dan Wheldon has been involved in more crashes than her lately.

Agreed. Her Worship is a lot of things, but a car wrecker she is not. I also agree that Scheckter has pretty much overcome his crashy rep from the Panther days. I believe Sarah Fisher is the only one not to take the wall this year. Jussayin.

You forgot Dario. Though if you count St. Pete he was involved in some paint trading. No wall kissing though. I can't remember, but how many times did Scheckter get involved in a wreck that was entirely obviously his fault. He took the rap for contact with Hornish at Indy this year, but I don't think it was his fault.

Is it possible Vitor felt the back getting loose, and slowed down to avoid spinning it? Given how many drivers had grip issues this weekend would it have been wrong to play it safe and slow up a little?
