"It is quite a bit different, but it is still a lot of fun to come out here," Foyt said.Racing in the offseason, just for the fun of it - what a concept.
He will be behind the wheel of the No. 14 A.J. Foyt Racing/Pit Solutions car owned by Ty Smith. It's something he has done before.
"I got to drive one of his cars in the Snowflake Derby in Florida and I had a lot of fun, so we just decided to do it again here in Houston," Foyt said. (MORE from the Houston Chronicle)
Also, Foyt is scheduled to join Scott Dixon, Vitor Meira, Dan Wheldon and other former and future IndyCar drivers for the TaG Endurance Race at New Castle Motorsports Park on the weekend of October 13th. For those in Indiana who need a racing fix - well, there ya go.
This morning's report on his race in Houston:
From The Houston Chronicle
• Foyt IV grabs top-10 finish at HMP — A.J. Foyt IV started in the back of the field for the Fiesta Mart 75 at Houston Motorsports Park, but by the end of the 75-lap race he was sixth.
Kyle Sirizzotti captured the victory in the ASA Pro Late Model event, with Brandon Bendele second, Jason Young third, Bernie Warriner Jr. fourth and Ralph Burris Jr. fifth.
Foyt was caught up in a multicar wreck that was started between Young and Kirby Caldwell on lap seven, which hurt the car's handling for the rest of the race.
Maybe racing talent is genetic afterall ...
