The Queen ponders an heir

You may ask yourself, “Self, if Sarah Fisher has sponsorship money, why would she sink that into starting a team that will only be competing in selected races this year instead of taking the funding to a competitive team for a full-season ride?

Well Mr or Mrs Self, Sand Wedge at the Furious Wedge may have found your answer.

Her press conference didn't do much to explain the real reason I think she started a new team but now I think we know. If you catch her interview with ESPN from yesterday you'll catch what I think is the real reason as she alludes to wanting to start a family sometime in the near future now that she's married. That is entirely understandable and becoming an owner allows her to stay in racing without having to be in the car. I think knowing this, no one can fault her on making this move now because this is obviously all about looking out for their future and staying in racing which is what they love.

See how women are? The MOMENT the wedding is over it’s all “my biological clock...blah-blah-blah...I won’t be complete until I’m a mother...yada-yada-yada...you go right back up there and get me a toddler! I need a baby, Hi!

Sorry, I digress. Here’s the video of the interview, and may I add with all sincerity that whenever Sara and Andy decided they want to expand their family your humble host will be more than happy to spot them their first Baby Bjorn.

Whoa, are you sure you really wanna say this publicly?

Come on - of course I'm kidding! I mean, I'm quoting "Raising Arizona" for crying out loud.

But just to avoid confusion, next time I'll try using the the "< sarcasm >" tags. Promise.

It's too bad "Party" Marty can't get pregnant, then he would be able to see that he should just HIRE an actual professional driver to run his car....

While there are lots of fine drivers of the female persuasion, I would rather see Sarah Fisher Racing in the business of putting the best driver possible in whatever cars they field than serving as an ICS affirmative-action team.

If she's going to be an owner with lasting connections to sponsors then she will need to have drivers that can race near the front. Simply putting the best "girl driver" in a car would lead to the preception of SFR being a "girl's only team", thus rendering it a novelty.

I mean, it's her team so she can do what she wants, but personally I'd rather see her become the next Roger Penske than the next Aguri Suzuki.

Can it at least be an US driver? I don't personally mind, but I'm tired of the complaining of lack of "American" drivers. Brazil IS in South America. Canada IS in North America. I Personally like the international aspect of the IRL. Best drivers, from a multitude of countries. Kind of like the olympics of motor sports. Makes it that much better when an "American" wins doesn't it?

Why does she have to hire a girl? I mean I'm a girl and if I owned a team I wouldn't want Danica driving! I'd be safe and pick Al Jr. instead!
