The intrepid Curt Cavin says there will be at least seven refugee entries, including not one but TWO from Mr Dale Coyne.

Dale Coyne Racing is believed to be committed to cars fielded by a pair of Brazilian drivers, former Indianapolis 500 pole winner Bruno Junqueira and rookie Mario Moraes, who drove last year in the British Formula Three championship. The team has not confirmed the commitment, although Dale Coyne and Moraes were at last week's test in Sebring, Fla.

Committed, you say? I recall watching an N-Word broadcast a few weeks ago when one of the heavily-accented commentators (common taters?) crowed about how when you see your plate of bacon and eggs for breakfast “you know that the chicken is dedicated but the pig is committed.”

And other than clarifying that I am NOT calling Mr Coyne a pig, that is all I have to say about that.

    Jeff,

Considering Dale has been fielding cars for over twenty years by stretching dimes to make dollars, I'd expect one car from his garage this season. The $1.2 million will help, and Dale will probably be able to round up some small but financially solvent sponsors, like he usually does. But I think he'd really have to stretch to get two cars and drivers. However, if there's a way to do that, Dale will find it.

And since he's the closest thing to a "home-town hero" (His race shop is in Plainfield, IL, a ten minute drive from my house), I hope he can come through for 2008 and beyond.

Since everyone's talking about which Champ Car teams will be ready to go by Homestead, I have a related question. Anybody know when this mysterious test session for Champ Car teams will be? They need to test both at Homestead and at Sebring, but mainly at Homestead. We're less than three weeks away, and I haven't seen it mentioned since the press conference.

Last dates I heard were 19-20 and 23-25 of March, but as we've seen with this thing, the facts on the ground are somewhat fluid.
