Three for three

Raphael Matos hasn't raced at St Pete in two years, but that didn't stop him from continuing his winning ways today. Matos is still unbeaten in three Indy Pro/Indy Lights events on this circuit after dominating all 40 laps of Race 1 at the St Pete 100.

Richard Antinucci - most certainly my distant cousin - finished second just as he did last week at Homestead, with Ana "Bia" Beatriz in third. There's no reason to think Bia isn't going to win an Indy Lights race this year, not that anyone named Danica should ever pay attention to such things.

Jeff Simmons finished in fourth in his return to the series, and will find himself on the pole for Race 2 after Matos drew a "4" for the grid inversion. That race is tomorrow at 10:45 AM Eastern, and if you want to you can watch live at IndyCar.com.

And in other news, The 30-Minute Man has the pole for tomorrow...

I love how it's such a bitch slap in the face that even though they sat him for 30 minutes TK still gets pole.... oh karma

I'm still trying to figure out how Matos is going to drive for AGR in the ICS next year. Is he going to take someone's place, or are they going to field five cars? I can't begin to fathom who would possibly leave AGR. Certainly Marco, TK, and Danica are gonna stick around, and Mutoh is a solid driver too (with solid sponsorship...but so are the other 3). I'm curious to hear what everyone else wants to speculate.. ??

28 cars max, someone has to go...
unfortunately in these mergified times you have to race well to keep your seat. Id say Kannan can go where he wants, Marco is safe, Danica carries sponsors and drives well enough but her contract is up i think so she might leave. I think Mutoh has to win the Rookie of the year award to stay.

I thought Danica signed a three year deal? That would mean she's there through next year.

Side note: Anyone know where I can find some Aussie Vineyards wine?
