Ins and Outs

Ladies and gentlemen, it appears we have a few changes to the scorecards for the race at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. Reports are still awaiting confirmation, but we have reason to suspect the following driver switches will be made:

In the #14: Paul Tracy is OUT, AJ Foyt IV is IN. According to Tracy, "A.J. called and said, ‘Look, I’m embarrassed about the car we gave you in Milwaukee. I can’t afford to be putting you in my equipment until we’ve got ourselves up to par. Having you in the car puts our team under the microscope, and I want to get our team better before we do that again’."

In the #23: Tomas Scheckter is OUT, Milka Duno is IN. What better way for Milka to celebrate her recent literary achievement. Her "Go, Milka, Go!" book was just recognized as the best young adult sports/recreation book of 2009 at the 11th Annual International Latino Book Awards. Now, if we can just get EJ Viso to write a children's book about snakes called "Give Daddy a Kiss".

In the #98: Stanton Barret is OUT, Jaques Lazier is IN. Maybe Stanton is weary of trying to set up a car he's hardly ever raced. Maybe he's seen footage of what happened to Davey Hamilton at TMS in 2001. Maybe he just wants to go fishing. Regardless, by handing over the virtual keys Stuntman Stanton has for at least one race done what Marty Roth could never bring himself to do.

“Our car is not good enough for you, PT, but it’s good enough for that pansy grandson of mine.” Umm, what does that say about Vitor???

Milka – yes, Scheckter – no? Really?

I was starting to become fond of Stanton Barrett. I hate to see him go.

@tomasscheckter tweeted the following 15 hours ago: "Looking forward to texas."

Does this mean he's just going to hang out? Or is this perhaps, a fraudulent twitter account?

    Enquiring minds want to know...

    For the love of god.....

When will someone tell Milka to just go home? GO AWAY you moving chicane!

Paul Tracy belongs racing but AJ's machines have never really been good. Molson sponsorship would really be nice and should bring some $.

Exactly.... What DOES that say about Vitor?

    Hasn't Scheck won this race before? That's a decision I can't understand.

so, is AJ kind of knocking AJ the 4th's racing skills with that comment or what?

Tony George and IHJ sighting in Pittsburgh @ the Penguins game.

I think Chip might be in the first row behind Babcock too.

LOL! Milka the moving chicane! Aww, give her a brake, er, break...no wait, I was right the first time.

(she signed my son's hat so GO MILKA, GO!)

It shows that Vitor is better then PT.

Ahhh...no, "Wonder", it doesn't show anything of the sort. All one needs to do is look at the record books to see that...or perhaps look at Edmonton last year...or Indy 2002...or ChampCar in '03...the list goes on for quite a long time here.

Are you guys serious? According to my math both AJ IV & Vitor have exactly ZERO wins in the ICS. A driver with 30+ wins (4? coming at Milwaukee alone) tends to bring a heavy media focus (idea?)!!!

A.J. praised PT for finishing Milwaukee with such an evil handling car... the SAME car AJ will trust Quattro to drive at Texas. Seems like an endorsement of his grandson to me... JMO on it.

The media spotlight for Darren Manning, Vitor Meira, or AJ IV at Texas would be less hot than having a former CART champ & 30+ race winner driving for the same lone star legend, eh?

Tony George and IHJ sighting in Pittsburgh...

O.K. for the non texting types... IHJ "I Hate Jerks"? WTH is "IHJ" & did he or Tony curse my RedWings??

@AZZO45, do you not read this blog?

IHJ = Iron Hand of Justice Brian Barnhartt.

    Also, Go Pens!

  13. Leigh O'Gorman // June 03, 2009 1:53 AM

    @AZZ045...

Surely it's better to have someone experienced to have develop the car and team to get better results?

Tracy could do that better that AJ the 4th any day of the week

  14. AZZO45 // June 03, 2009 11:01 AM

EE: Sorry but Barnhardt comes off as the PHJ (Paper Hand of Justice) to me... so I blanked on IHJ :) :) :) The PHJ is also a tag that we can assign the NHL's Gary Bettman (& game 3 was the Bettman game I predicted... )Wings in 5, clinch @the Joe!!!

We agree that a 30 race winner would be quicker to teach a team how to tame a nasty set-up(s)... but AJ obviously thinks his team will be in the media spotlight with that all-star driver in the seat. The same spotlight might have sponsors questioning if they should re-sign... twisted logic, YES. However I don't think it dismisses Vitor or Quattro

Leigh: The second part of my comments were for you... forgot to add your name (DOH!!!) to that part
