Tomaso at No Fenders was recently listening to an intenet interview with Davey Hamilton, and it turns out everyone’s favorite feel-good story from Indy last year will be back for another shot at The 500…but with a different team.
And perhaps I either missed the memo, or it was during one of the OVERLY numerous dead spaces during the interview, but I only heard Davey say that he would indeed be back once again at the Speedway this May in a “One-off” effort, upon being asked if he’d try to run Kansas in preparations for the upcoming Indy 500?And so the Roth Racing empire continues to grow. Who knew?
No, with the unification and the great premium being currently placed upon the scarcity of Dallara chassis and Honda engines, there’s just NO way we’ll be able to pull it off, so I’m just concentrating on a single race at Indy this May.
But who will he be driving for? Will it be a fourth Vision Racing entry a la last year when he had the highest finish for Tony George, crossing the yard of bricks in ninth place. Yeah, a fourth chassis alongside Paul Tracy perhaps? Naw, I’ve been told that Davey will be driving a third Marty Roth entry...GASP!!! I’m actually gonna have duh root for Roth Racing!
Roth is the man. Seriously, he bleeds Indy. I really hope that the effort that he puts into his team turns into long term success.
FYI. Justin Wilson was the fastest in the first practice session today, and Graham was 5th. Vitor, TK, and Helio rounded out the top five.
Stoked. So glad to hear Davey's going again - will make this year's trip to Indy just that much more special.
Looks like I need to find some Roth Racing gear to wear... :)
Speaking of Davey, nice to hear him and Mike King during practices on Indycar.com instead of Don Kay. No offense to Mr. Kay, but King and Co. are so much better at the "fill" during practice session downtime, they're using the pit reporters to chase down info, and they also know the first rule of broadcasting: Thou shalt not eat, drink or chew gum while on mic.
davey is pretty good in the booth actually a good broadcast overal
now Roth just needs to find someone to do his road courses for him. Calling Giebler...
yeah but Davey and King never let me know how fast these cars would travel the distance of a football field...
joking aside, my wife carpooled to school with the Hamilton family growing up in rural Idaho (not that he isn't already a great and easy guy to root for) so very glad to see Davey will be back out there!
I listened to the program and I didn't hear anything about him driving for roth. He should name a source.
